The fact that Iceland is an isolated island in North Atlantic Ocean is probably what influences it´s character the most. Icelanders are somewhat like the seabirds that inhabit the coast of our country, we don´t really feel at easy if we don´t see the ocean for some time. Fishing and it´s processing is still one of our biggest industries and majority of the nation lives by the coast. Still, the coast is far from being crowded and it offers some of the most beautiful treks in Iceland.

Lost Fjords is an amazing backpacking trek in Hornstrandir Nature Reserve, the most isolated part of Iceland.
This amazing nature adventure takes you to the old viking settlement of Hornstrandir. It is one of the highly unaccessible parts of Iceland, a place of unmatched beauty, ancient glacial fjords and towering sea cliffs swarmed with seabirds.
In the past the Hornstrandir area was populated with viking settlers, then colonies of fishermen and today, none at all. Only very few lucky Icelanders have summer huts in the area, which most have been in their families for decades. The area is so remote that most Icelanders haven´t even been there. And the best part, there are no roads at all in the area.
We proudly offer a six day self supported trekking tour in the Hornstrandir area. We recommend this one as our best nature experience tour for those who are ready to head into the wild with their backpack and nothing else...
