Into the Mountains - An Impressive Hike with Panoramic views

A great mountain hiking day tour from Ísafjörður village over to Bolungarvík village, including a trip to the local swimming pool. A day tour, available directly from Ísafjörður in Iceland.

Trip difficulty 3 out of 5 possible, challenging.

The mountains and valleys around Isafjordur offer the enthusiastic walker some great opportunities for day tours in an unspoiled nature. The view of the sheer mountains on each side is spectacular and takes on a different shape with every step of the way.

We´ll start our hike at the cross country ski area in Seljalandsdalur valley and slowly make our way up to the Thjofatindar peaks. Between the peaks there is a mountain pass that offers excellent view over the Hnifsdalur valley and the fjords to the North. From there we descent a bit and cross the valley while trying to keep our altitude. The last part of the walk takes us down the Sydridalur valley close to the town of Bolungarvik. We end the trip in the local swimming pool that offers sauna and jacuzzis to sooth our tired muscles. If you want to skip the swimming pool, you can wander around town and check out the local atmosphere at the Einarshus café. We drive back to Isafjordur at the end of the trip.
