An easy half day hiking tour from Reykjavík to the Reykjadalur geothermal valley in South West Iceland.
Trip difficulty 2+ out of 5 possible. Easy.
After only 40 minutes drive from Reykjavík we start our hike from the outskirts of Hveragerði, into the beautiful valley of Reykjadalur (Steamy Valley). On our way up there we´ll witness how hot water rushes down the slopes of Hellisheiði mountain range amongst countless steaming hot springs. You will witness everything from small gurgling melting pots to vibrant super heated pools of water. This unusual environment creates the ideal place to relax in some of the deeper parts of an untouched natural hot stream. So if you´re up for it, bring your swimwear. After strolling along these wonders of nature we hike back down to the lowlands. This is a great 7 km half-day trek that everyone can participate in. Get in touch with the pure Icelandic nature, it will reload your batteries and fill your lounges with fresh air!
