How far do we hike on the Hot Spring Hunt tour?
The hike is around 7 km, 3,5 km up to our destination and then we need to head back, which is actually way easier since it´s down hill. It takes around 1 hours to hike up the valley, we stop there for 1-2hours hour for a bath in the hot springs and the guide explains some interesting facts about the springs and the area! It will take us around 40 minutes to walk back to the car. You should be back to your accommodation around 15:00.
Do I need to wear hiking boots?
We strongly recommend that you wear hiking boots but it is not necessary, if you have good trainers that is fine! The downside of trainers is that sometimes in the springtime and after heavy rain the terrain can get pretty wet and most trainers are not waterproof. But as our favorite Icelandic expression goes: No one is worse even though he gets wet.... We recommend wet feet rather than missing this spectacular hike.
How fit and experienced do I have to be?
It is a fairly short and easy hike up a beautiful valley, you do not have to be an experienced hiker.
Do I have to bring my own lunch?
No, we provide packed lunch. However we recommend that you bring your own water bottle as it´s nice to be able to drink enough water during the hike and after the warm bath in the geothermal river.
